Best-selling A Woman of Substance author dubbed ‘Queen of the genre’ Barbara Taylor Bradford dies aged 91

BEST-SELLING author Barbara Taylor Bradford has died at the age of 91.

Barbara became famous for her novel A Woman of Substance.

She died peacefully at her home on Sunday 24 November following a brief illness.

Bradford wrote a total of 40 novels during her lifetime. Her books, often centred on the rich peoples' lives.

These novels went on to become worldwide bestsellers.

Her debut novel, A Woman of Substance, was released in 1979 and sold over 30 million copies.

Barbara began her career at 15 as a typist for the Yorkshire Evening Post. She became a reporter the following year and by 18 she was the paper's first female editor.
