Terrifying BOMB threats made against Donald Trump’s cabinet picks who’ve also been targeted by ‘swatting’ attacks
TERRIFYING bomb threats and swatting callouts were made against several of Donald Trump's Cabinet picks, a spokesperson says.
Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt slammed the "violent, unAmerican threats to their lives" in a statement on Wednesday.
She said: "These attacks ranged from bomb threats to swatting.
"In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted.
"President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action."
The threats were made between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
It is not yet clear whether any bombs have been found.
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who is set to take be the US Ambassador to the UN was one of those to receive threats.
In a statement, she said: "This morning, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, her husband, and their three year old son were driving home to Saratoga County from Washington for Thanksgiving when they were informed of a bomb threat to their residence.
"New York State, County law enforcement, and U.S. Capitol Police responded immediately with the highest levels of professionalism."
Matt Gaetz had a police bomb squad turn up to his house after a pipe bomb threat was made against him, Punchbowl news reports.
The Florida Congressman was initially picked for the Attorney General post but subsequently withdrew due to an ongoing sex scandal.
Trump's other Cabinet picks include Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State and Scott Bessent as his Treasury Secretary.
Swatting is where a violent threat is made to police about a location, causing a heavily armed SWAT police response at someone's home.
It is a tactic often used by internet pranksters who can make the calls anonymously and deceive law enforcement.
