Mum who’s ‘sick of shouting upstairs and being ignored’ by her kids, shares ‘best parenting hack’ to get their attention
IF you are struggling to get your kids away from their Christmas presents, you aren’t alone.
One mum has come up with a hilarious hack for getting her kids’ attention and claims she never has to shout to get downstairs.
For those dreading the first school run of the year, this parenting tip might help get your kids to the gate on time.
Rather than get frustrated and continue shouting to get her kids attention, mum Shelley Walker found a way to get her three son downstairs without any fuss.
Taking to Tiktok, the mum-of-three revealed that she’d installed wireless doorbells in each of her kid’s bedrooms so she could easily call them down.
If that we’re impressive enough, she’d even installed them in her kitchen cupboard with each of her boys’ names above a doorbell.

In the caption, the busy mum admitted she gotten ‘frustrated’ with the constant nagging before she came up with the clever hack.
She joked: “Anyone else sick of shouting upstairs, being ignored then running up to get the kids down for dinner?!...Now I can call the boys nicely without the frustration of shouting my head off.”
For those who aren’t sold on the modern parenting method, you might be after hearing that you can pick up wireless doorbells for just £6.79 each.
Alternatively, you can find the exact version that Shelley bought on Amazon for £14.99 and it has a range of additional features, such as chime volume and an LED light.
Unlike like similar devices, you can attach them just about anywhere that to the stick backs and won’t slow your internet down.
Whilst Shelley might have found an easy way to manage her brood, other mums weren’t so impressed with the hack.
Responding to the viral video, which has gained over a million views in less than 24 hours, one mum revealed that she tried to do the same but her kids found a loophole.
She wrote: “Yes tried it they took the batteries out the receiver.”
“My dad tried this 25 years ago…,” another added, recalling: “It worked until we worked out we could take the batteries out of the ringer unit for our Walkman.”
A third later admitted that her hack has been scuppered by other gadgets in the family home, including nose cancelling headphones.
“No success. I need to send visual cues (light flashing) because of damn noise cancelling headsets,” they complained.
Others said they’d used Amazon’s Alexa speaker to help with round up their kids, saying: “I use the Alexa announcement or drop in function.”
However, plenty of parents were already getting their debit cards out to purchase the wireless door bells.
