A band of heavy rain will hit most of the UK on Wednesday however temperatures in the south of England will remain milder with highs of 12C on the south west coast.

Downpours are expected to continue into Thursday morning, with clearer skies by the afternoon.

The south east coast and north eastern regions will also experience some sunny spells.

On Friday, a mixture of rain and sunshine is predicted for most Brits with showers in England and Wales.

By Saturday, conditions are forecast to clear up in the east, with more rain in the west.

Meteorologists also predict an Arctic freeze set to cover the UK later this month with snow reaching the south of England by February 21.

It comes after Brits were warned of heavy rain and flooding just days ago after forecasters issued a yellow weather warning.

Alerts were in force for the east coast from Essex up to Newcastle, along with much of the West Country.

Homes, roads and train lines were predicted to be affected, sparking travel delays, the Met Office warned.

A whopping 30mm of rain was expected to fall in some areas covered by the warnings.
