Stunning sportscar made famous by iconic Prince song before dominating races goes on the market for eye-watering price
THE stunning sports car made famous by the iconic Prince song "Little Red Corevette" is due to go under the hammer.
This cherry red 1966 Chevy Corvette is what many people think of when they imagine an American muscle car.
It was made famous by the 1983 hit by singer and artist Prince, with the car used as a metaphor for casual sex.
Little Red Corvette was said to have come to the singer in a dream when he fell asleep in a band mate's car.
That car was a 1964 pink Mercury Montclair Marauder, rather than a red Corvette.
This Corvette restomod, a vehicle reimagined to perform like a modern sports car, was built in October 2022 by Jeff Hayes Customs, an Indiana company passionate about building Corvette restomods.

A restomod is a restoration and modification of a classic motor using modern technology with the classic looks.
The 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was the prototypical “America’s sports car”.
It also featured on the racing circuit, dominating the racetracks in the late 60s, leaving challengers like Ford, Mopar, and AMC in the dust.
The car is now powered by a Chevrolet V-8 LS3 crate engine that delivers 540 hp with a top speed of 135 mph.
The listing reads: “The C2, as the second generation of Corvette is known, was built from 1963 through 1967 and comprises about 118,000 examples in total of both coupes and convertibles.
“The C2 iterations are recognized as the most collectable ‘Vettes of them all.
“It has wide polished spokes of Schott wheels wrapped with custom red-line tyres, a popular detail seen on the sportiest 1960s sports car rubber.
“Treat yourself to its power steering, power windows, and a power hood.
“This is a modern daily driver with ice-cold Vintage Air and an equally cool AM/FM Bluetooth stereo.”
The 540 hp convertible will be offered at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach auction, which will run from April 18 through 20 in Palm Beach, Florida.
