Clapham ‘chemical attack’: How ‘incredibly selfless’ hero mum ignored her own horrific injuries to save her 2 daughters

AN "incredibly selfless" hero mum ignored her own horrific injuries from the suspected chemical attack in Clapham to save her two daughters.

The mum and her young kids were allegedly doused with a corrosive liquid by 35-year-old Abdul Ezedi - who is still at large.

Ezedi then allegedly tried to run the woman over before twice slamming her three-year-old daughter on the ground "like a rag doll".

He is believed to have tracked his victim down to the two-star Clapham South Belvedere Hotel, where the council had put her up with her daughters, aged three and eight.

A 22-year-old man who has stayed in the Belvedere Hotel for three months said he saw the woman flee into the reception and scream for help after the chilling attack.

He told The Sun: "She ran in from around the corner and started screaming ‘Help, my child needs help’.

"I think Ezedi must have been hit with the majority of the substance, like it blew back in his face.

"The eight-year-old had about six red blotches on the left hand side of her face near her cheekbone.

"You could see she had been splashed with some of the substance.

The man added: "Although the mother was injured, she was more focused on getting her child some help.

"It was incredibly selfless — it’s a good thing.

"The mum was taken away in the ambulance with the eight-year-old.

"The three-year-old was taken away before I saw them because she had more serious injuries.

"The older child’s eyes were closed — they were trying to open her eyes.

"But I think she was in such a state of shock that she kept her eyes closed.

"It’s someone’s kids — an eight year old and a three year old.

"He has ruined the children’s future."

Ezedi, 35, from Newcastle, is still at large after 12 people were injured in the horror attack on Wednesday evening.

Members of the public and cops were also burned as they rushed to the family’s aid.

In the early hours of this morning officers hunting Ezedi raided an address in Leyton, east London.

Snaps show cops wearing hazmat suits and PPE face masks, as an apparent precaution against dangerous chemicals.

A source said that a large number of cops swarmed the Leyton address just before 2am, smashing down doors.

The London Fire Brigade said it was called at 1.47am and that firefighters stayed at the scene until 5.29am.

Manhunt cops are urging people not to approach "dangerous" fugitive Ezedi.

Now it has been revealed that Ezedi arrived in the UK in a lorry and failed to claim asylum.

However, he then converted to Christianity and was accepted on his third attempt with a priest as a character witness.

Ezedi pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual assault and one of exposure before he was granted asylum, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
