Barcelona vs Real Madrid LIVE SCORE: Los Blancos in need of three points to keep slim title hopes alive

  • Season series

Real Madrid had already lost to Barcelona in this year's Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup finals.

Moreover, they scored goals through Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha in their reversal of the La Liga match in October, winning 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In their three meetings with Real Madrid this season, Barcelona has scored 12 goals and given up just four goals. Los Blancos lost 3-2 in extra time in the Copa del Rey final last month, which was the closest of the bunch.

Barcelona defeated the other team 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final.

3-0 Barca with the chance to complete the sweep.

  • El Clásico title showdown

Afternoon, and welcome to SunSport’s live blog of Spanish football’s ultimate grudge match, with the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc playing host for a crucial Clásico clash.

Barcelona, who fell on the wrong side of a true Champions League all-timer on Tuesday night, will look to regain champion status as they seek a crucial all-but-confirming win that would pull seven points clear of their rivals with three games left and firmly put one hand on the LaLiga title.

As for their Los Blancos counterparts, it’s been a season of deterioration. They were champions of Spain and Europe going into this season and have looked anything but despite adding one of the best players in the world, Kylian Mbappé.

Renovation plans are already underway; it looks increasingly likely that this will be Carlo Ancelotti’s last game in charge, with the departing Bayer Leverkusen coach and former Real player Xabi Alonso earmarked as an immediate successor. Trent Alexander-Arnold also looks set to follow Alonso’s march once his contract at Liverpool comes to an end in the summer.

That being said, the here and now still provides enticing incentive with the opportunity of pipping their bitter rivals to the league in a season that has underwhelmed, still within reach.

As always, both clubs will rumble on with intense viewership, including today.

Turn off the world and turn on the game because it doesn't get any bigger than this: the 261st El Clásico, kick-off at 3.15pm GMT. Team news to follow.
