Vera star reveals major career plans after quitting ITV show – sending fans into a frenzy
A BELOVED star from Vera has excited fans with an update on their new role away from the detective series.
Last month, the long-running ITV crime drama was confirmed to end next year with series 14.
Kenny Doughty, 49, maintained a starring role as DS Aiden Healy throughout the majority of the show’s run.
The actor joined the cast in series five and enjoyed an eight-year stint opposite Brenda Blethyn.
Following his exit last December, citing "personal reasons", Kenny shared a reflective Instagram post filled with snapshots alongside his fellow cast members, captioned: "Thanks for the memories."
Since making his last Vera appearance, the star has maintained a relatively low profile.

However, more recently, he has teased fans with a new role - although Kenny has yet to confirm the show he is starring in.
The actor shared a small hint regarding his return to the limelight and this week, revealed via Instagram that he's back in action on set.
Sharing a snap of a Guinness sign in a pub, the Aiden Healy performer wrote: "Being very well looked after by the Irish! Loving filming here… crew so welcoming & generous (maybe too much with Guinness).
"Can’t share just yet what I’m filming but sure all will be revealed soon!"
This sent fans into a frenzy as they questioned what Kenny was working on, as one fan wrote: "Can't wait to find out what your next adventure is."
Another penned: "Excited to see what you have coming up!!!!"
A third added: "Enjoy your Guinness it's good for you xx can't wait to find out what you're filming xx."
Previously, Kenny delighted fans with another photo of a pint of Guinness at Dublin airport.
He wrote: "Slainte! Treating myself to an early weekend pint at the airport. Week 1 of filming in the bag!
"Looking forward to a weekend home. Have gorgeous weekends!"
