How to stop condensation even when you’re running a bath or having a hot shower and it’s freezing outside – & it’s free

A MRS Hinch fan has shared a totally free hack for reducing condensation in the bathroom.

One person took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook to ask for advice on how to clear theirs.

They added that they even have a fan in the room, but it's not helping.

People took to the comments section to add their suggestions to help, with many insisting that the order you fill up your bath is vital.

"Pour cold water in first then add hot gradually no condensation," one wrote.

"Put cold water in the bath first before running the hot tap," another added.

"If you run a bath run a bit of cold in first, helps reduce condensation apparently," a third commented.

"Leave the cold tap running while you're in," someone else wrote.

But does this work? According to Northumberland County Council, "when filling your bath, run the cold water first then add the hot - it will reduce the steam by 90 percent which leads to condensation".

Other people suggested a more obvious solution to condensation - opening a window.

Someone commented: "Open the window, it clears very quickly."

"Open the window," another said. "[Then] squeegee the walls and shower screen dry with cloth."

"I always open the window. It clears quickly," a third remarked.

"I always use a squeegee on shower cubicle after a shower," someone else said.

"Tend to take my shower when I’m alone and mirrors don’t steam up.

"But if I have to close bathroom door I dry off mirrors with my towel after drying myself."

"We open the window with door shut for a little while!" another wrote.

Meanwhile, other suggestions included a "disposable dehumidifier from Poundshop", which "works a treat" apparently.

"I have a windowless bathroom and ended up buying a dehumidifier," another said.

"I use it everyday - Blyss from Screwfix and it has a laundry setting.

Someone else said it's a good idea to "get yourself a plant - peace lily or spider plant".

While some people swear by using a window vac.

"Get a Karcher window vac, it’s a game changer," one said.

"I second that," another added.
