In a Reddit post, user Pumpkin discussed her impressive hair growth journey.

She showed a side by side comparison of her locks, taken just two days apart.

In the first picture, her wavy brunette bob ended just below her jawline.

"I had freshly cut my hair in August 2022, I love short hair on me," the poster explained.

However, the Redditor decided to see what her hair looked like grown out.

"I wanted to try growing my hair long at least once in my life," she wrote.

She revealed that the second photo was taken in August 2024, showing her current style.

As the Reddit user faced away from the camera, her long hair reached her waist.

"In these two years I've been tempted to cut my hair or trim it many times, but I didn't give in," she explained.

While she added that her hair still wasn't the healthiest it could be, she said she was "quite happy" with her progress.

I had long, thick, 4C curls before going bald during chemo – my careful haircare routine helped grow it back by 80%

She said that she tried a variety of hair growth methods but only credited one with the significant change.

"I oiled it regularly for a year," the poster said.

Argan oil, widely regarded as one of the most effective hair growth products, nourishes from your roots to your ends.

The key ingredient in the oil is vitamin E, which has been found to boost growth.

What's the science behind hair oils?

The National Library of Medicine published research on the effectiveness of hair oils in boosting growth.

Coconut oil, almond oil, castor oil, argan oil, olive oil, amla oil, fenugreek oil, sesame oil, linseed oil, and mustard oil were all examined in the study.

They explained that hair oils enhance penetration and reach up to the hair follicle.

This helps to increases the circulation of the scalp, thereby increasing hair growth.

Experts recommend applying the product to damp hair, just after washing, for the best results.

The poster also revealed that she held off on cutting or trimming her hair until the two year mark.

While she is now planning a salon appointment to give her locks a more defined style, she said she would resist the urge to change the length.

"I plan on continuing to grow my hair and see how long I can grow it," she said.

Her fellow Reddit users shared their thoughts on her hair transformation in the comments section.

"Wow, if my hair grew that [quickly], I'd be getting a bob every three years! But unfortunately mine grows slowly. Lovely healthy hair you got there!" wrote one reader.

"Been growing my hair out for two years, [it was] the same length you started with but maybe a little longer. [I] only cut three inches off and it's barley at my armpit, well done," said another person.

"Your hair looks very healthy and it will look great once you grow it even longer!" commented a third Redditor.
