I scavenger hunt for name-brand makeup at Dollar Tree – I got lucky with my latest haul & found $7 lipsticks for $1.25

SHOPPING for cosmetics can be pricy, but one beauty fan found a way to make it work.

She said she makes the process into a "scavenger hunt" to find the best Dollar Tree has to offer.

Redditor Needhelpwmakeup explained her approach to nabbing top name-brand makeup products.

"I have a couple of Dollar Trees near enough to where I live, but I can usually only find name-brand stuff at one," she said.

"It's like a scavenger hunt, lol."

She found cult favorites like Nyx and Revlon while shopping at Dollar Tree.

HOW IT'S DONE

When it comes to scoring name-brand products at a discount shop, Needhelpwmakeup said it takes some practice.

Another Redditor asked how she pulls it off.

"You found Nyx and Revlon at Dollar Tree?" they wrote.

"That is so cool. I do have that Wet N Wild lipstick. Probably two actually, accidentally, lol."

"They've been hard to find, at first I was only seeing about one color," she said.

"But I've been keeping my eye out for more and I got lucky lol. Definitely going to keep checking this one.

"So far, I've seen some Maybelline lip products in non-specific packaging, four in total of Revlon lipsticks, even some Revlon foundation in deeper skin tones."

She also found, "Three Nyx lip cream shades, only two Wet n Wild lip shades, and even some single-color Almay eyeshadows."

Revlon lipstick is sold for $6.48 on Amazon and Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream is also on Amazon for $7.08 — Dollar Tree sells them for $1.25.

BREAD AND BUTTER

Needhelpwmakeup added that she has given Dollar Tree's B-Pure brand a shot.

"So I've tried a few of their products," she said.

"Two of their Clean Beauty line cream blush/lip duos. Very creamy, sheer, but buildable and blends well.

"Their pH changing rose lip balm. I didn't realize at first that it was pH-changing, but the scent is really nice and it's hydrating.

"I just don't think the bright pink [color] it changes to is quite my vibe lol.

"Their essentially ageless hydrating serum concealer [has] hydrating, buildable coverage. [It's] good for someone with dry skin, or someone who wants a lighter-feeling look.

"[I tried] their hydrating lipstick in the tropical print. Nice color, creamy, hydrating, but almost too soft of a product because the bullet keeps trying to break off.

"I may scrape it out into a different container and just apply it with a lip brush. Oh, also, it smells like crayons."

Despite some shortcomings, she said she's "decently happy" with B-Pure's performance.

"Maybe some of them don't quite fit into what I personally need, but I make them work and if you're someone with dry skin who wants a lighter look and feel, I'd definitely recommend them," she said.
