Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Gunners ‘in advanced talks with Zubimendi’, Huijsen race heats up, Coman ‘approach’

  • Wright stuff

Women’s football needs more people like Ian Wright, writes SunSport’s Emilia Hawkins.

England Lioness Eni Aluko accused him of “dominating” punditry in women’s football earlier this week.

But in a world where the “nobody cares” narrative is still all too common, the Arsenal legend remains a huge advocate for the game both on and off our TV screens.

During possible scouting trips to watch Williams in action, Arsenal may have identified his Sancet as a better hit.

And the Gunners are exploring a deal to sign the midfielder this summer, according to Just Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has 15 goals this season.

But Arsenal could be denied the chance to watch him in action against Manchester United in the Europa League semi-final.

That is because he picked up an injury early into the LaLiga clash against Las Palmas with availability now uncertain.

  • Coming up for the Gunners

  • Merson: Leeds should look at Sterling

Paul Merson told The Football Show: "It's hard. Raheem's been playing football all the time.

" At Arsenal, he's coming in for a game here and a game there. When he has come in, it's not Arsenal's full team.

"I don't know where he goes from here. That will be up to him, but you need to consistently play week in, week out to get a rhythm.

"He's come in for games where they've made changes so it's not been fluid. I do feel for him, but I think his time at Arsenal will be up.

"If I was a Leeds United, I'd be looking at Raheem.

"They're a young team, they like to play attacking football and he's very good in the dressing room and a good team player.

"He's got all the experience in the world, he's won Premier League.

"He'd be going to a huge club and the expectations are not as high.

"If they finish 17th in the Premier League next year, they've pulled up trees, so that wouldn't be a bad move."

Arsenal have reportedly launched negotiations over landign top Prem target Viktor Gyokeres.

Football Insider say the Gunners’ new sporting director Andrea Berta does not want to waste any time in landing a new source of firepower for the club this summer.

He is said to be a big fan of the Swede, who has scored 47 goals in 46 games in all competitions this season.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been loosely mentioned over Gyokeres. since January.

  • Zubimendi's move a 'done deal'

Spanish journalist Juan Castro said Martin Zubimendi's move to Arsenal is a "done deal"

Arsenal are confident of making the Real Sociedad star - who has a £55m release clause - their first signing of the summer.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Real Madrid were planning to hijack the move.

But SunSport understands the Gunners still expect Zubimendi, 25, to choose North London instead of Madrid.

  • Carra admits Gunners ace has proved him wrong

Mikel Merino’s blossoming Arsenal fortunes have surprised Jamie Carragher.

The Spaniard has been pushed forward from midfield to attack following frontline injuries.

The ex-Liverpool defender told Sky Sports last night: “He is a similar profile to Havertz, Merino.

“Physically, he gives you set-pieces, crashing into the box, making runs.

“He has been great. I looked at him a little bit at the start of the season and wondered if they had brought the wrong type of player.

‘There may still be an argument for that in that Arsenal still lack a bit of creativity, but when you look at what the lad’s done since Havertz got injured, he has been an absolute reservation.

“You would be reluctant to take him out that role if you were Arteta.”

  • Com and get him

Arsenal have reportedly held discussions with the representatives of Kingsley Coman.

Football Insider claim Gunners scouts have been tracking the Bayern Munich star this season.

Coman has appeared 28 times for the German giant this term, scoring 5 goals and notching 4 assists.

He signed a long-term contract extension in January 2022, keeping him at the club until June 2027, and is among the club's top earners.

  • Too many draws, red cards and injuries

Mikel Arteta was left disappointed in Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, as he said that his side dropped their standards.

Liverpool now only need a draw against Tottenham to secure their 20th title on Sunday at Anfield.

The draw was the 13th of the season for Arsenal, a total that only Everton, with 14, can beat.

Liverpool, by contrast, have registered only seven draws.

That represents a 12-point difference - the same margin, coincidentally, that now separates the top two.

  • Arsenal 'exploring' move for Nico Williams teammate

During possible scouting trips to watch Nico Williams in action, Arsenal may have identified his Athletic Club teammate Oihan Sancet as a potential transfer target.

  • Dean Huijsen detail

Arsenal are one of the many clubs to be linked wit an interest in Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen ahead of the transfer window.

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg has now given more details over the centre-back's £50 million release clause.

It is said that the fee can be paid in three instalments, which could attract more interest.

  • Merson's PSG prediction

Paul Merson has backed his former club to come out on top in their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

"Yeah, I think Arsenal win over two legs.

"I think Arsenal win, I think we still get carried away with the PSG of the first leg against Liverpool

"I thought they were outstanding, one of the best team performances we’ve seen this season from anyone.

"But they lost that game 1-0, people still forget that. They are outstanding.

"But they were hanging on, absolutely hanging on at Anfield, then they go and play Villa and they absolutely dominated Villa.

"And they scored last kick of the game which worked out to be a priceless goal in the end to go 3-1 up.

"But then they want to Villa Park and at times, it got to stages where you’re thinking there’s only one winner here and that’s Aston Villa.

"I think Arsenal have every chance, I’d just go slightly go with Arsenal over PSG over legs."

  • Jorginho' s exit all-but confirmed

It will be "over between Arsenal and Jorginho in the summer", according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The 33-year-old midfielder has made 78 appearances in all competitions since joining Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea for £12million in 2023.

But Jorginho’s current contract – which he signed last May – is due to expire at the end of the season.

Arsenal rejected a late approach from Brazilian outfit Flamengo in January, with Arteta keen to keep hold of the Italy international for the second half of the campaign.

Jorginho – who has made just nine league starts this term – was pictured in Rio de Janeiro just last month.

The 33-year-old has been open with his desire to return to the country of his birth in the twilight years of his career.

In case you missed it earlier this afternoon, Arsenal are confident of making Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi their first signing of the summer.

  • Partey on

Arsenal are in talks with Thomas Partey over a new two-year contract.

Manager Mikel Arteta is keen for the 31-year-old midfielder, whose current deal expires in the summer, to stay at the Emirates.

  • Arteta - We dropped our standards

Mikel Arteta was left unimpressed as the Gunners twice threw away a lead in their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Arsenal boss said: "We dropped our standards today and credit to Crystal Palace.

"We struggled to find consistency in the game. We gave the ball away in simply ways and we were late in everything we did. I am disappointed.

"We have spoke about avoiding our focus being elsewhere. We have enough time to prepare for PSG but today we didn’t deliver enough rights to win the game."

  • Gunner go for it

Arsenal are confident Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi will be their first major summer, reports suggest.

Real Madrid entered the race for the Sociedad midfielder after their Champions League exit.

But according to ESPN, the Gunners are "at an advanced stage in negotiations" over Zubimendi's move to North London.

  • Wright stuff

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright continues to prove that he is just as much of a legend off the pitch as he was on it.

The 61-year-old has been a huge advocate for women's football over the years.

And last April, he showed just how much he cared with an incredible gesture to a player who had suffered a potentially career-jeopardising injury.

  • All change

Premier League fans have revealed their top 20 things that they would like to see implemented in football.

This includes having diving players being instantly slapped with a red card and imposing salary caps.

Crystal Palace denied Arsenal a third-straight win in all competitions after twice coming from behind at the Emirates.

Despite dominating possession, it was the visitors who showed a real cutting edge last night.

  • Cunha update

Arsenal, Man Utd, Aston Villa and Saudi Pro League clubs all reportedly fancy Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

But The Athletic's David Ornstein reckons the Brazilian, 25, would "prefer" to join the Red Devils over the Gunners.

Cunha is thought to be on the radar of at least five Prem clubs and has a release clause of £62.5million.
