I’m over the toxic ‘legging legs’ trend – it’s ‘thigh gap’ all over again, we don’t need a new reason to hate our bodies
A GYM girl has revealed why she's over the legging legs trend that has been popping up online.
She said that it's similar to the thigh gap craze from years ago and women don't need another reason to critique their bodies.
Fitness fan Sage Christine (@sagechristine0) always keeps it real online.
In a TikTok video, she called out people who praise the "legging legs" trend that has been a common topic online.
It is a beauty standard that's become controversial for how it is telling TikTok users how their legs should look in the style.
It sets up the ideal 'leggings legs' as long, and thin, with a thigh gap.
"If you are posting that you are happy you have legging legs you are part of the problem so stop," she wrote in the video caption.
She stood in her kitchen and prepared a protein shake as she angrily spoke to her audience.
"I swear every single morning I open this app, and there is a new reason that we should all be insecure, that we should all not like our bodies,"
She was definitely not happy about it and brought attention to the "thigh gap epidemic" that she remembered from she was 13 years old.
"That literally scarred me," she said.
She said that it was "the exact same thing" and that everyone had them because we have legs and wear leggings.
"Boom. We all have leggings legs, so just stop," she said right before.
She communicated with many other viewers in the comment section of the video about their shared opinions.
"Ughhh yes I hated the leg gap era. Well saiddd," one commented.
"Yesss that needs to stay in the past!!" Sage wrote.
"When I had “legging legs” I was so incredibly unhealthy," another shared.
"No for real like we need to stop glamorizing it," Sage replied.
Sage also agreed with a TikTok user's comment that read: "Thank you for speaking up against body insecurity and toxic trends."
