One hundred and five Republicans and 206 Democrats voted to expel George Santos (R-N.Y.) from the House of Representatives on Friday. Santos had survived two previous expulsion efforts but could not overcome a third one after the release of a House Ethics Committee report two weeks ago that found “substantial evidence” that the freshman lawmaker had knowingly violated ethics guidelines, House rules and criminal laws.

The expulsion motion, introduced by a fellow Republican, House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Guest (Miss.), required the support of two-thirds of the chamber to succeed.

Santos is the sixth member to be expelled by the House in its history and the first to be ousted without being convicted of a crime.
