My makeup artist must-haves reduce the look of dark under-eye circles – plus a tretinoin alternative to fight wrinkles

A BRIDAL makeup artist has shared her go-to products that help conceal dark under-eye circles.

She also revealed an alternative for the skincare item tretinoin that combats fine lines and wrinkles.

BUDGET BUYS

Lim suggested affordable items to both combat and conceal dark under-eye circles.

She said the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer has a "great consistency" that doesn't "accentuate texture" or dryness around the eyes.

It also comes in many colors, including a neutralizing yellow tone and brightening pink shades for extra dark under-eyes.

The makeup lover also recommended the Naturium Vitamin Bright Illuminating Under Eye cream, which comes in two flexible shades.

"It contains vitamin K which aids in strengthening blood vessels and producing a more even skin tone," she explained.

The budget buy also has light-reflecting particles to visually brighten the under-eye region.

YOUTHFUL NEEDS

Lim also revealed some must-have products to showcase glowy, youthful skin overall.

The Naturium Retinaldehyde Cream Serum 0.05% is "one conversion away" from the popular tretinoin that is only available with a prescription.

Lim said the Naturium serum is "great for reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and pores."

Another item she spoke highly of was the Shiseido Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation, which she described as "lightweight" and "glowy" with many skincare benefits.

She added that the "beautiful thin serum foundation" adds an "instant filter" to improve the look of skin over time.

Lastly, Lim explained that the oil-based Javon Ford Beauty Sun-kissed Cheek Stain applies "more evenly than traditional water-based stains" and leaves a "beautiful youthful-looking glow."

She said it was a good choice for summer "no makeup" makeup looks and is long-lasting.

"It also adjusts very nicely to each wearer's skin tone as it uses colour-adaptive bromo technology," she added.

TRICKY TRENDS

Lim also offered some useful tricks to disguise facial aging.

"Always make sure to keep the skin hydrated. Nothing ages your appearance like dry skin," she said.

She admitted that she loves to work primarily with liquid and cream products on mature skin and limits powder use to only where it is needed.

"People are also often afraid of color, but you need to add color to the face to create the look of youthfulness," she added.

Lim also said It was a "myth" that mature women can't wear shimmers.

"You just need to make sure that the shimmers you wear are finely milled. Chunky shimmers or glitters are what tend to accentuate texture," she explained.

"Refined shimmers can add a beautiful glow to the skin without aging the wearer."
