I made £12k last month with my side hustle as a stay-at-home mum – I want to make £300k this year and barely do any work
A WOMAN has revealed that she made over £12,000 in just one month thanks to her side hustle.
All whilst on maternity leave, this stay-at-home mum has shared just how she rakes in the big bucks.
Posting on social media, Helena, who posts online under ‘Helena Starts a Business’, explained that thanks to digital products, she is able to earn money, whilst barely doing any work.
Digital products are intangible goods that exist in a digital format. These include ebooks, music, digital art, software and online courses.
In one video, Helena shared her earnings for January, as she said: “This is how much money I made predominantly passively, and all online, whilst I was on maternity leave in January.
“If we’ve not met before, I’m Helena and this year I’ve set myself a challenge to make an additional £300,000 in income, alongside my full-time job, and whilst I’m on maternity leave.

“I started my journey last year, where I finished on just over £82,000.
“This is the first month of 2024 - let’s see how I got on.”
Helena then explained that she has made digital products, which she sells online.
However, she has set up automated systems, so that she barely has to do any work, as she added: “My baby is just about to turn four months old, so I really do not do any work on this business.
“I've set up all of the systems, all of the automations, and created all of the products last year and now they continue to pay me in this year.
“I have over 100,000 followers on TikTok and I make hardly any money on it - a sum of £84.79.
“Where I made most of my money, unsurprisingly, is with my digital products.
“So these are things that I have created once and I sell them over and over again and I use an automated workflow to do that.
“This made me £12,239.84 in January. In January, my best products were spreadsheets, so financial model templates that I have created in ExCel, my business planner, and my AI and automation starter kit.
“In total I spent £556,64 on expenses. This is predominantly things like software, but the expenses, on the whole, are pretty low.”
In another clip, Helena revealed everything she has learnt so far when it comes to selling digital products, as well as her tips and tricks so you can too.
She explained: “My most successful side hustle and the one that has made me the most amount of money is selling digital products.
“So what have I learnt doing this and how can you replicate and do something similar?”
Become an expert
According to Helena, if you are an expert in a certain field, you can create a digital product.
She advised: “The first thing that I recommend is that you create something that you know a lot about and that you are an expert in. For me, I have been an entrepreneur for the last 17 years and I have been able to monetise that skillset.

“I’ve also seen people have a huge amount of success in lots of different industries - from healthcare, to food and drink, to fitness.
“The key is that you know what you’re talking about and you can talk from a place of credibility and you can actually teach someone something of value with your products.
“For me, masterclasses and templates have performed best, particular financial model spreadsheet templates.”
Money, money, money
When it comes to how much you will sell your digital product for, Helena added: “I see people selling everything from £500 courses, all the way down to really low ticket items that are literally £1.
“For me, my price point has been very low - everything I’ve sold has been between £7 and £67.”
Stick with it
Although there are various platforms you can sell digital products on, Helena warned: “I also learnt early on to pick a platform and stick with it. Most of my sales come from the link in my TikTok bio, or via my own personal website.
“There are a bunch of other different platforms you can also sell digital products on, however, I am fortunate that I have built up an audience that I can market and sell digital products to.”
Make it easy
If you want people to buy your products, you’ll need to make things simple, as the money-making whizz shared: “The next thing that I think is critical is how easy you make the purchase process.
“That’s one of the reasons why I love Stan Store, that’s what I personally use.”
Overall, selling digital products has definitely been the best side hustle I’ve tested so far

Automation station
If you want to have success with digital products, Helena swears by automation, as she concluded: “The biggest learning curve for me and I think where I have developed the most over the last 10 months has been in my ability to convert people via my email sequences.
“I’ve spent a lot of time setting up various different automations.
“Overall, selling digital products has definitely been the best side hustle I’ve tested so far.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @startabusinesswithme, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 13,600 views.
Social media users were thankful for Helena’s tips and were eager to express this in the comments
One person said: “Absolutely love this breakdown and as always your transparency!”
