Five savvy ways to make easy cash from your home

HOME is where the heart is, but also the cash.

If your finances need a boost, consider making a pretty penny using your pad. Here’s how . . .

STAR APPEAL: You can rent out your home for photo shoots or even filming to make some serious cash.

Sign up to location agencies such as AmazingSpace in London, which will pay you a fee to rent out your home or garden.

You could earn up to £1,500 a day.

PARK UP: You can charge people to use your parking spot, which is great if it is free all day.

Or rent it as and when it is available, such as when you go on holiday.

Apps and sites including JustPark will connect drivers with your space and suggest a fee for charging.

You can decide on the times.

Most apps make money by charging fees; check you are happy before signing up.

RENT A ROOM: Take in a lodger and you can make up to £7,500 without paying tax through the Rent a Room Scheme.

Alternatively, you could rent out a room, or even your whole house, on Airbnb.

STORE STUFF: If you have space in your loft or shed you could be gathering money rather than dust.

StoreMates is one platform that lets you list space.

Just make sure your home insurance covers you for whatever is being stored.

LOAN IT: From toys to bikes or camera equipment, you can rent out belongings you don’t use often on sites such as Fat Llama.

You set your own prices and the company takes a cut from the rental.

It also has an insurance policy to protect items against loss, theft or damage.
