Erik ten Hag to continue as Manchester United manager after season review

Manchester United have decided to continue with Erik ten Hag as their manager after a review of the season. The club finished in their lowest Premier League position, eighth, but won the FA Cup and it has been confirmed after weeks of deliberation that the Dutchman will carry on.

Ten Hag has a contract to June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year. The club are now discussing an extension.

Ten Hag has been in charge for two seasons and won the Carabao Cup in his first campaign, when the team also qualified for the Champions League. United then finished bottom of their Champions League group and experienced a series of poor Premier League results, including home defeats by Bournemouth, Fulham and Crystal Palace, not helped by injury problems.

The minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has been in charge of football operations since partway through this season, and those who work most closely with him at United, including Sir Dave Brailsford and the technical director Jason Wilcox, have concluded that Ten Hag should continue.
