In her video, Martha (@marthas_makeup) showed her followers "three ways you’re making your skin age quicker and don’t even know it."

The TikToker told her audience that many of her clients have been struggling with fine lines and wrinkles for a long time.

"Often when we do those three little adjustments the skin suddenly looks better, more plump, hydrated," she explained.

"The makeup is staying on, not moving around, not accentuating the texture."

For her first tip, Martha revealed the skincare product you may be overusing.

"Retinol is viral, it’s a fantastic skin ingredient, and it really helps with signs of aging," she said.

"If you don’t know how to use it properly if you don’t know what to pair it with, if you’re using it together with the wrong stuff, it’s actually doing more harm than good.

"It may not be working at all because it contradicts something else or it’s being too harsh."

Instead of overdoing it with exfoliants and retinol products, Martha recommended focusing on hydration.

"I bet you’ve seen those TikToks where they say ‘This is not actually a wrinkle, this is actually a dehydration line’ and it is 100% true," she told her audience.

I’m nearly 60 - I’ve never had Botox and don’t look a day over 30 - my tight skin is thanks to four skincare rules

"It’s all about hydrating your skin and that does not mean moisturizing.

"Moisturizer only smooths the outer layers of the skin, it’s not actually hydrating the inner deeper layers of your skin."

She advised her viewers to apply hyaluronic acid to their damp skin for the best results.

Martha also discussed the process of applying makeup to mature skin.

"There is no universal technique because everyone’s skin ages differently so the placement of the product is going to be different for each person," she explained.

Anti-aging skincare tips

  • Don't overuse exfoliants or retinol products
  • Apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin
  • Find a makeup routine that works for your complexion

"Where you apply is going to be different depending on your skin issues, your dominant skin type, and how your skin has aged.

"If you’ve been trying to follow a tutorial online from someone who also has mature skin it’s not always going to be the same for you and you might actually accentuate stuff you don’t want to accentuate."

Her followers shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.
