Минобороны США приняло решение расконсервировать военные базы на Северных Марианских островах.

В частности, на острове Тиниан будет восстановлен армейский аэродром North Airfield, заброшенный с 1947.

Именно с этого аэродрома вылетали самолёты, сбросившие атомные бомбы на Хиросиму и Нагасаки.
