Sarah Beeny shares the key rule her kids have to abide by before the heating goes on, and people ‘completely agree’
WE'RE all trying to keep our outgoings down during the cost of living crisis.
And one way to do that is by keeping the heating off for as long as possible.
That's also the case if you're a homes expert like Sarah Beeny, who took to TikTok to share the rule her kids have to stick to before she'll even think about touching the thermostat.
"So it's the middle of winter and Laurie has just asked me to turn the heating on," Sarah said, as she sat on the sofa with her teenage son.
"He's got bare feet and no jumper."
"But it's cold!" Laurie complained, as he rested his sock-less feet on his mum's legs.

"Yeah, that's because you're wearing completely inappropriate clothing," Sarah hit back.
"I can't be the only parent who thinks that if you don't have a jumper on and you don't have socks on then you can't discuss heating.
"That's the deal!"
"Anyone else have this battle in their house?" Sarah captioned the video.
And people in the comments section were quick to agree with Sarah's approach.
"I agree with you," one wrote.
"Put socks and a jumper on lad, you will when you have to start paying bills!"
"Completely agree! Even my husband does this, infuriates me," another admitted.
"100%! Kids in shorts and T-shirts saying they’re freezing is such a pet peeve," a third commented.
"Totally agree, they have to be fully clothed with a jumper on and then if they're cold the heating goes on," someone else said.
"Agreed, if my children ever came downstairs in winter in a T-shirts, I would turn the heating off," another wrote.
"Yes my daughter said it was cold the other day she had a crop top and knickers on," someone else said.
"I told her to get dressed for the season!"
"My rule is that if you’re dressed for winter and you’re still cold, you can have the heating on," another insisted.
"Don’t come at me with no socks or jumper."
But not everyone agreed with Sarah's house rule.
"Nah I got my heating on 24/7 I refuse to be uncomfortable in my own home," one wrote.
"If you can afford it (you can) then it’s not acceptable to refuse to have heating on in freezing conditions imo," another added.

"What's wrong about wanting to be comfortable?" a third asked.
"Middle of winter needs heating on," someone else insisted.
