  • Karim Benzema makes transfer decision

    Karim Benzema has reportedly made a decision on his future amid rumours linking him with a move away from Saudi Arabia.

    Last week, it was reported that Premier League side Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign Benzema on loan.

    Aside from United, London clubs Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.

    But according to L'Equipe, the striker is expected to stay in Saudi Arabia despite the recent rumours.

    It has been claimed that those around the 36-year-old say he feels good and will remain with Al-Ittihad.

  • Piers Morgan urges move for Toney

    Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to take his chequebook out and sign Ivan Toney from Brentford.

    The Englishman, 27, has served his ban and is eligible to play again for Brentford. He has announced that he is free and is expected to feature against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

    Toney has also publicly claimed that he would love to play for a big club one day.

    Piers seems to see that as Toney ‘begging’ for a move away, and he has now urged Mikel Arteta to ‘stop being so stubborn’ and to go and sign the Brentford striker.

    The Sun columnist said: “The January transfer window closes in 14 days but Arsenal still haven’t signed a striker despite proven goalscorers like @ivantoney24 almost begging to go to a big club.

    “What are you waiting for @m8arteta? Stop being so stubborn about your ‘process’ & get your chequebook out.”

    Joseph Paintsil is being eyed up by West Ham as a potential replacement for unsettled Said Benrahma.

    The Genk winger, 25, caught the Hammers’ eye in the Europa League two seasons ago and is back on their radar.

    Arsenal are eyeing a deal for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, according to TalkSPORT.

    The Toffee’s financial fair play troubles could mean they are forced to let go of the 21-year-old.

    The towering centre-back is highly rated on Merseyside and Arsenal will face competition for his signature.

    There has long been links to Manchester United while it is claimed that Real Madrid are also interested in the England U21 international.

    Arsenal and Chelsea target Ivan Toney says “it’s obvious want to play for a top club”.

    The Brentford striker is free to play after his eight-month ban.

    The one-cap Englishman, 27, told Sky Sports: “It’s obvious I want to play for a top club and fight for titles, yes.

    “If a club was to pay the right money… then, who knows. January or whenever is right time, I’ll be ready.”

    But having been out for so long, Toney added: “I want to enjoy and play now.”

    Paul Merson would be “shocked” if old club Arsenal but anyone this month.

    The Gunners have been linked with signing a striker, notably Brentford’s Ivan Toney, and a central midfielder, such as Everton’ s Amadou Onana.

    But ex-England frontman Merson told  Sportskeeda: “If they had plans of dipping into the transfer market, why couldn’t they have done so earlier in the month?

    “This is why I don’t think they’ll pursue a deal for Ivan Toney.

    “(Boss Mikel) Arteta’s current situation at Arsenal reminds me of the latter part of Arsene Wenger’s stint.

    “Everyone knew at the time that Wenger needed a central defender, but he was a bit stubborn and refused to dip into the transfer market.

    “Arteta needs a centre forward now to give his side a welcome boost in the title race, but he has thus far remained reluctant to sign one.”

    “It wasn’t an easy decision but one that I feel is best for me and my family.

    “I want to take this opportunity to thank the club & the fans for all the support during my time.

    “I really felt the love from Day One. I’ll keep watching & hoping for your success. Good luck for the future.”

    Henderson featured 19 times for Al-Ettifaq, failing to score but registering five assists.

    On the move, an Ajax statement added: “Ajax has reached an agreement with Jordan Henderson on his transfer to Amsterdam.”

  • Soar-ing away

    Arsenal right-back Cedric Soares could leave the Emirates Stadium this month after struggling for any game time under Mikel Arteta.

    According to the Daily Mail, Turkish giants Besiktas are interested in signing the 32-year-old.

    Arsenal are understood to want a fee for the Portuguese defender, but may struggle with the former Southampton man having just six months left on his deal.

    There’s a real possibility that Cedric could join Besiktas on loan before joining as a free agent in the summer.

    Al-Ettifaq say the "quick decision" to let Jordan Henderson join Ajax was "amicable" - and right for them as much as for the Liverpool legend.

    But president Samer Al Misehal stressed the club "under coach Steven Gerrard demand complete unity and commitment from all players and staff".

    Al Misehal said: “Firstly, the club would like to thank
    Jordan for his efforts and wish him the best for his future endeavours.

    "We are always respectful of our players. The club and Jordan believe this quick decision, without any delay or further distraction, has

    Saudi Pro league chiefs claim Jordan Henderson's sudden move from Al-Ettifaq to Ajax is the best outcome for everyone.

    SPL vice-chairman and interim CEO Saad Allazeez praised Al-Ettifaq for acting so quickly "to protect their own interests as well as the player".

    Allazeez added: "Sometimes despite best efforts people don’t always adjust or settle and that can impact performances and lead to frustrations for all. 

    "Jordan is a good guy and it’s a shame that things didn’t work out for him, but he’d be the first to admit that full support was given to him and respect shown. 

    "So everyone tried and no one is to blame. "

    The England midfielder, 33, was desperate to quit the Saudi Pro League for Europe despite only leaving in the summer.

    Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White are reportedly in "advanced" talks over extending their Arsenal deals.

    Japan full-back Tomiyasu, 25, is under contract until 2025 and versatile defender White, 26, is tied down until the following year.

    Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano told GIVEMESPORT that extensions could soon be sealed.

    Sky Sports' Dharmesh Sheth says "positive steps" have been made in negotiations between Tomiyasu and the Gunners.

    Former Manchester United whizkid Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has joined the NINTH club aged 26.

    Ex-Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho once hailed the Mancunian as a "top player".

    He came through the Red Devils' academy and broke into the first team under Louis van Gaal. He made 14 appearances during the 2015/16 campaign - including 10 in the Premier League

    But he left for loan spells with WolvesLeeds, Scunthorpe, Tranmere and Oldham, who he joined permanently in 2020.

    However, Burton Albion signed him a year later and he registered two goals plus four assists in 72 games for the Staffordshire club.

    But was sent out on loan to Polish outfit Śląsk Wrocław last year.

    The left-back was released by Burton last summer and rejoined Śląsk Wrocław but only featured for the second team.

    Now he's linked up with Scottish top-flight club Ross County - on loan.

  • Martial 'wants to stay at Utd'

    Anthony Martial needs surgery for a hip issue, his agent has revealed.

    Phillipe Lamboley told Sky Sports the injury is why the French striker has not always been in Manchester United's first-team squad.

    Lamboley also said Martial had "no problem" with manager Erik ten Hag.

    The representative said: "He is simply going to undergo a small operation on his adductors, which he should have done for a while and which did not allow him to be 100 per cent, so he will do it now." 

    Lamboley insisted Martial wants to stay at Old Trafford despite claims United would consider offloading him this month.
