Premier League: On loan from Barcelona, Ansu Fati has pulled a goal back for Brighton early in the second half at Villa Park. His first strike for the Seagulls survives multiple VAR checks for a variety of possible infractions and Brighton are back in the game.

Beleaguered Sheffield Wednesday remain winless and rock-bottom of the Championship table after losing 3-0 against a youthful Sunderland side at Hillsborough last night. Tony Mobray’s Mackems moved up to fourth in the table courtesy of their impressive display and are five points behind pace-setters Leicester City and Ipswich Town, having played one game more. Southampton host Leeds United in today’s lunchtime kick-off and lead their visitors 3-0 at the break.

There’s a bumper afternoon of Premier League action ahoy, with no fewer than six three o’clock kick-offs scheduled ahead of this evening’s potential humdinger between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

Aston Villa and Brighton got the weekend’s top flight activities under way in today’s lunchtime game at Villa Park, where the ruthless home side lead 3-0 at half-time courtesy of a brace scored by Ollie Watkins inside 20 minutes, followed by a Pervis Estupinan own goal.

As ever, we’ll be here to bring you team news, flag up all the goals as they go in and stay across any major talking points throughout the afternoon, before posting match reports from our journalists around the grounds.
