This is a much smaller update, so players are starting to be able to get back into the game already.

Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite’s downtime on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Why was Fortnite down?

Fortnite was down for scheduled maintenance, meaning that there is no issue with the servers.

Epic Games updated the servers for the Fortnite v29.01 update, which will add a number of changes to the game.

More in Fortnite

This is one of the faster updates we’ve seen, with servers returning in just over an hour.

What has changed in Fortnite?

A number of new items and weapons have been added to the game, fitting in with the theme of Myths and Mortals.

The Epic-tier weapon, Chains of Hades, can grab enemies and pull them towards you while dealing good damage.

A new standard weapon, the Drum Gun, has also been added and can be found in standard loot.

Shield Bubble Jr is a new item that has been added and is like the Shield Bubble, only smaller.

The groundwork has also been added for the introduction map editors for both Rocket Racing and Lego Fortnite, though players won’t have access to this yet.

These have been rumoured for a long time, but there is no news yet on when the feature will be available.
