Woman murdered by former boyfriend while children were present, Queensland police allege

Children were present when a woman was allegedly killed by her former boyfriend, police say.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with murder after the 30-year-old woman’s body was found in a house north of Brisbane on Sunday.

“We believe there were some young people there at the offence location at the time of the offence,” Det Insp Wade Lee told reporters.

The woman’s body was found by officers in the Owanyilla home after the man went to the Maryborough police station on Sunday evening.

The man and the woman were previously in a relationship and were both known to police in relation to alleged domestic violence matters, Lee said.

The cause of the woman’s death is yet to be established, with forensic investigators still at the scene on Monday.

Police are also appealing for information about a Toyota Camry seen travelling on Old Gympie Road in Owanyilla, on the Bruce Highway and on Ferry Street in Maryborough between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday.

Lee said police believe it is the dead woman’s car.

“There are a number of people in the vehicle at a number of times during that period,” he said.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the silver green Camry should contact police.

The man faced Maryborough magistrates court via video link on Monday afternoon.

He has been remanded in custody, with his next court date set for 25 March.
