  • Darts moving to Saudi?

PDC chief Barry Hearn has revealed it may not long for darts to follow snooker and boxing to Saudi Arabia.

The Gulf nation has handed huge riches to bring those sports to its soil and darts is expected to follow soon.

The country's booze ban is one thing standing in the way - but Hearn believes that could soon be over, opening the doors to a move.

He said: "I have spoken to the Saudis and they were very keen.

"But of course there's no alcohol in Saudi.

"There will be quite soon. And when it does, the first event they will want to stage in Saudi will be darts."

  • Price down on Prem

Darts star Gerwyn Price has claimed he has not enjoyed playing in the Premier League since 2018 - his first appearance at the tournament.

He said: "I haven't enjoyed the Premier League. I haven't enjoyed it since 2018 when I first played in it.

"But, that's the way it goes sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet and carry on.

"Now it's time to knuckle down and hit more of these events, the Pro Tours, the events that really matter and get some ranking points and hopefully get back into that top four."

  • And then there were Nine

Ross Smith hit a sensational nine-darter against Dmitri van den Berg during their match at the Dutch Darts Championship.

Despite the epic leg Smith, who is currently ranked No 14 in the world, lost 6-4 and went out of the tournament.

  • Booze ban

The PDC has warned players about sneaking ALCOHOL into tournament venues.

The game's stars have been warned after some players were caught concealing alcohol in water bottles at Players Championship events - which are played behind closed doors.

The message sent to players read: "There has been an increase in the number of instances where players have been found to have brought alcohol into venues at floor events.

"This has been distinguished in water bottles and other containers.

"This is expressly forbidden and players have previously been notified that this is a breach of the Tournament Rules.

"The PDC have discussed this with the DRA and the PDPA and it has been decided that to deter such actions more robust sanctions are needed for players who are caught bringing alcohol into venues at events.

"The new approach is to issue incremental fines for such breaches."

  • Littler x2

LUKE LITTLER has revealed there "could have been two Littlers" after winning the Premier League.

However, he has now explained it could have been double trouble on the oche.

During his press conference after the final, Littler was asked about playing darts during Covid.

The 17-year-old answered: "That’s what really did it for me: Covid. I was non-stop on the board.

"My older brother, he stopped playing darts. If he had continued to practise, maybe there would have been two Littlers – but there is only one!"

His older brother Leon revealed earlier this year he had quit darts to become a barman.

  • Easy breezy

Luke Humphries revealed he was put off by a breeze during his defeat to Luke Littler in the Premier League darts final.

"I was trying to stick in there - there was a massive breeze coming across the stage all night and it's so hard to deal with," he said.

"It's credit to Luke, he managed it all night so well. When I went to the break 5-5 I had stuck in there.

"But then all of a sudden the breeze stopped and he's played much better - he's such a fantastic player, he really is.

"I think me and Luke are the two greatest players in the world at the moment and this was another great battle.

"I just love playing him. I know I lose a lot, but I just love playing him and we are going to have many more battles in the future."

  • Tax blow for Littler

Luke Littler is set to lose nearly half of his £275,000 Premier League Darts winnings to the tax man.

His win landed him a staggering six-figure prize fund plus another £40k from his four other nightly wins in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Belfast and Manchester.

But the youngster will not be taking home the £315k he has accumulated as according to AtIndex Littler will have to hand £136,263.60 to HMRC.

However, just moments before kick-off, the 17-year-old revealed he was not at the home of English football for the showpiece event.

  • MVG gave everything

Michael van Gerwen insisted he gave everything to reach the final of the Premier League Darts before his defeat to Luke Humphries.
