The skincare influencer took to TikTok (@glassskinsecret) to share the three-ingredient recipe for a homemade mask that she claims helps to gives her "glass skin."

In the clip, she begins by pouring a glass of milk into a bowl, before adding four heaped tablespoons of cornflour, which costs as little as £1.

She notes that if you haven't got cornflour, rice flour can be used as an alternative.

After giving the mixture a stir, she then places it into a mug.

Finally, she adds a teaspoon of olive oil, which costs just 71p, before giving it a final mix, then voilà! She advises simply leaving it on your face for around 20 minutes.

The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 7.3 million views and several comments from intrigued beauty fans and up and down the country.

"Thank very much sis," wrote one.

A second joked: "That's why cornmeal was sold out!"

A third commented: "Ohh I used to do this, just with cornmeal and water tho lol - my mum made me do it."

Elsewhere, others were desperate to know whether the DIY beauty mixture really worked.

Speaking exclusively to Fabulous Digital, award-winning skin specialist Georgina East, who has been in the beauty industry for 20 years, offers her verdict.

"I’m not sure I would use it in a professional sense but as a cheap at home alternative it’s worth a try!" she says.

"Breaking it down, cornmeal, milk, and olive oil each offer unique benefits for the skin, singularly and/or when mixed together."

First up, she explains how cornmeal acts as a gentle exfoliant due to its slightly coarse texture, helping to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores.

"It also contains minerals and vitamins, offering mild skin-soothing properties," she adds.

Next up, she points out how milk contains lactic acid, which she explains is a "natural alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that gently exfoliates, brightens, and softens the skin."

She continues: "It acts as a moisturiser due to its fat content, helping to hydrate and nourish the skin."

And last but not least, she explains that olive oil is rich in antioxidants like vitamin E and polyphenols, providing anti-ageing benefits by combating free radicals.

"This acts as an excellent moisturiser, penetrating deeply into the skin to provide hydration and protect the skin’s barrier," the skincare whizz explains.

Georgina concludes: "A combination of these ingredients in a homemade skincare treatment, such as a gentle scrub or a mask, can potentially provide exfoliation, hydration, and nourishment for the skin.

"However, it’s essential to perform a patch test before using any new homemade skincare product to ensure you don’t have any adverse reactions, and I would definitely seek advice from a professional to ensure it would be the right source of treatment for the individuals skin type."
