‘Dream’ 2p coin worth £1,000 thanks to tiny typo on its face could be lurking in your change – check it now & cash in
AN UNBELIEVABLE 2p coin could be lurking in your purse that's worth a whopping £1,000 - all because of a sneaky typo on its face.
Owners of this unsuspecting coin could be sitting on an absolute fortune.
This coin has been dubbed a "collector's dream" due to its incredible inscription change from the old New Pence to Two Pence.
It also has an unbelievable history behind it.
In 1971 the UK began its transition to decimal currency as we know it today.
To avoid any confusion through the use of change, the word "new" was included on some coins.

But by 1982, the coins were already 11 years old and therefore the Royal Mint decided to drop the "New" print - and change to "Two" instead.
In 1983, this got completely thrown out the window and there was an error that put "New Pence" instead of "Two Pence" on some coins.
They were obviously not intended for release but instead became part of commemorative sets, Copes Coins reports.
No one knows how many of these fantastic rarities are circulating - making them even more unusual and, consequently, expensive.
If you're lucky enough to find one amongst loose change, they can be traded in for hundreds, or even a thousand pounds.
Without any scratches or blemishes, coins have been known to sell for a shocking £500-£700.
But the sets they belong to could get you over an eye-watering £1,000 on the secondary market.
One of the easiest ways to check how much coins have sold for in the past is on eBay.
But it's impossible to know if it was a genuine sale, so take it with a pinch of salt.
You should also be careful to check your coin is legitimate by asking the Royal Mint.
Another coin error that could fetch you up to £87 is an accidental 2p silver coin.
These 2p coins are considered rare because they were accidentally printed onto a silver base instead of the traditional copper.
On eBay we found a coin which was made in 2015 and sold for £5.50 after two bids.
However, in the past one sold for £87 on eBay in February following 32 bids.

But again, coins are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them and we haven't seen one sell for this much in recent months.
It's unclear exactly how many are in circulation.
