I’m your over-50 makeup teacher – 3 eyeshadow mistakes you’re making on crepey, saggy eyes that are aging you
A MAKEUP artist in her 50s has shared a few eyeshadow application mistakes that may be doing you more harm than good.
She admitted that the cosmetics blunders could be aging you and causing creepy, saggy eyes.
Wife and grandmother Kim (@kimlightupyourface) is a makeup teacher in her 50s who offers beauty tips for women online.
In a TikTok video, she revealed three of the biggest mistakes you could be making when applying your eyeshadow as a mature woman.
If you have hooded eyes, or deep-set eyes like she said she does, the first is to take a dark color and place it directly in the crease.
"That only accentuates that deep crease, and you can't see the color anyway," she said.
Instead, she demonstrated how she uses a neutral shadow to create a softer look.
"Keep your eyes open, look straight ahead, and place it above the crease," she explained.
Kim then went into the proper use of eyeliner to appear more youthful.
"Build that color to the outer corner for lift, and then make sure in that lower lash line that you're having it meet with the upper lash line. Smudge it out for a softer look," she said.
She added that you can even use that transition shade to add to the bottom lash line, instead of going from the outer to the inner corner of the upper, and then the outer to the inner corner of the lower.
The reason is that "it just closes up the eye."
Lastly, the final mistake is to use shimmer underneath the brow bone because it just ages you.
For an anti-aging effect, she suggested using a matte color that you can also put in the inner corner of the eye to "bring a little bit of light."
Viewers appreciated her age-defying tricks and offered supportive words.
"Oh wow! That makes such a difference! Thanks!" one commented.
"Yes!!! I’m horrible at applying makeup! I’m going to try this!!" another chimed in
"Yes, I made two mistakes. I use dark eyeshadow and bright on the wrong way. Thank you for the advice," a TikTok user admitted.
