90+6. Now we are going to have some end to this game.

90+4. The ball is threaded through to Chiesa.

He runs through on goal and slots it past Pope for The Reds.

Immediately the assistant raises their flag but the replay shows that the Italian was onside by some distance.

Now we have the usual Stockley Parkl delay.

  • Goal - Federico Chiesa (Liverpool)

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

90+2. Over the years Liverpool have had some dramatic finishes to games, never giving up until that final whistle.

The time added will seem like an eternity to these Magpies' fans.

It is just looking all too forced from The Reds and as a result they are failing to create any clear-cut chances.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    90. The Magpies look to get some fresh legs on the pitch.

Murphy looks like he can barely walk at the moment, surely he will be the change we are going to see.

Pope receives a yellow card for delaying the restart.

    Krafth comes on for Murphy.

There is going to be eight added minutes.

    88. Nobody has a divine right to win a final and Liverpool are finding that out the hard way today.

They have been left wanting in so many areas of the pitch.

Time is running out, things are getting to point of desperation for Arne Slot's side.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    86. Liverpool desperately need a goal to make this a nervy end to the game for The Magpies.

Aside from that Jones effort that Pope saved, they have failed to create much at all in this half.

One side has wanted this win more than the other today and that is reflected in the scoreline.

    84. Livramento makes a charge towards goal.

As he gets into the box, he looks to bend one in the far corner.

It strikes Jones and goes out for a corner.

Newcastle fail to utilise the set-piece but all of this is keeping the ball down the right end of the pitch and running the clock down.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    82. Howe has only managed to beat Liverpool once in his managerial career.

He is under ten minutes away from doubling that stat.

The club may commission a statue of him outside of St James' Park iif they can see this out to win the Carabao Cup.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    80. This could be a piece of Newcastle history unfolding right in front of our eyes in the capital.

Isak is being replaced by Wilson as he receives a huge cheer from the Geordie fans.

Barnes also comes off, with Willock joining the action.

    78. Newcastle are on the verge of something special.

The task for them is simple, get everyone behind the ball and loook to hold onto what they already have.

Elliott plays a pass into Chiesa in the box but his first touch is heavy and Schar is able to clear as a result.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    76. The size of this occasion at Wembley has had completely the opposite effect anyone could have predicted.

Eddie Howe's side have used it as a catalyst to put in possibly their best performance of the season.

Time is running out for The Reds, even the most die-hard fan may struggle to see a way back into this game for Slot's side.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    74. This has been the perfect performance from The Magpies today.

However, they could never have planned for Liverpool to be as woeful as this.

Of all the times to pull out your worst performance of the season, The Reds seem to have saved it for this final.

  • View from SunSport's Lloyd Canfield at Wembley

The Newcastle fans to my right hand side have not stopped singing all game long, and cheer every move made by their heroes on the pitch in black and white.

It seemed only fitting that Alan Shearer was here to watch Alexander Isak put a dagger in Liverpool's hearts, and they relished in that by chanting both of their names one after the other.

Isak himself could've had two or three in this game, but has been a constant threat to what is supposedly the best defence in the Premier League.

They've only 20 or so minutes left to hold on, and with Liverpool not looking massively threatening so far it begs the question...

They couldn't bottle it now, could they?

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    72. The Magpies are in complete control of this game currently.

Liverpool look disjointed and are leaving gaps all over the pitch for Eddie Howe's side to exploit.

Rumours are circulating that Mohamed Salah is on the pitch today but we have not been able to confirm or deny this.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    70. Reds fans will be hoping that the real Liverpool will please stand up in these final twenty minutes.

Newcastle's fans are on cloud nine, edging closer to that trophy they have craved for so long.

Pub owners in the North East are ordering emergency supplies of beer as we speak.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    68. Liverpool are all over the shop in defence.

The Reds need to find at least two goals but you cannot see Newcastle not scoring again.

This day could not be going any worse for the Anfield side.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    66. We have a break in play as Newcastle address some injuries.

The most worrying will be their talisman Isak.

Slot makes another change as Mac Allister is replaced by Gakpo.

  • Liverpool 0-2 Newcastle

    64. Wow, The Magpies should have put this game to bed.

A ball is clipped over The Reds' defence and Barnes cushions a volley into the path of an unmarked Isak in the middle.

He steers it towards goal but Kelleher makes a crucial save for Liverpool.

That said, the Newcastle striker should have scored from there.
