Coronation Street fans feel sick at vile dog abuse scenes as soap reveals harrowing new storyline
CORONATION Street fans have been left feeling sick after a thug was seen abusing his dog in tonight’s episode.
The scenes came as the soap confirmed a dramatic new storyline that will see Evelyn Plummer take on dangerous puppy farmers.
In tonight’s episode Evelyn spotted a man hurting his dog and ended up rowing with him.
As Roy came outside she told him to start filming the man as she pelted him with mint imperials in an effort to stop him harming the little dog.
But as the man went to attack Evelyn, Cassie came out of the cafe and put a stop to him.
She warned him that if he tried anything she’d throw scalding hot coffee in his face and then deal with him herself, which was enough to send the man packing.

A second said: "Nice one Evelyn. Now boot him in the nuts."
Another added: "Anyone who hurts dogs needs a good kicking in the bollocks."
One viewer was upset by the scene, sharing: "Extremely distressing using those dog sounds. There's so much cruelty i try my best to avoid the constant barrage of adverts and now you're subjecting us to this s**t when we just want escapism."
Meanwhile Coronation Street bosses have worked closely with the RSPCA for the storyline which will see Evelyn and Cassie team up to tackle puppy farmers.
Producer Iain MacLeod said: “It was hugely important to us to work with the RSPCA on this storyline, both in terms of the accuracy of the on-screen narrative and also the welfare of the animals on set during filming.
“It is a really important story to tell, but it was also vital to make sure it was fun for the actors’ canine co-stars - and as all our behind-the-scenes footage shows, it certainly was!”
