Snooker ace Judd Trump banks £150,000 pay cheque without needing to win tournament

JUDD TRUMP has picked up £150,00 following his latest victory - without even winning a tournament.

The snooker star has been in fine form in recent weeks.

And his success has been rewarded with a bumper pay packet following his German Masters Last 16 win over Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.

Trump, 34, won the match 5-2 to pocket a £150,000 cheque.

The big jackpot is handed out to the player who picks up the most prize money over eight qualifying events, including the German Masters.

Trump finished runner-up in The Masters to Ronnie O'Sullivan but did win the English Open and Northern Ireland Open.

The Ace in the Pack also finished as a runner-up in the World Grand Prix to set up his shot at earning the big windfall.

Trump revealed after his win that the thought of scooping the cheque did play on his mind, and he admitted it added pressure to the match.

He said: "I knew going into that game what I needed to do. There was that added incentive, that added bit of pressure. It wasn’t just a normal game.

"When I can play somewhere near my best it is always special, especially in that kind of arena, in that atmosphere.

“I’m very pleased to win it again. I’ve been consistent in all of the events. It is something that I look for at the start of a season. I try to lift the series every year. To do it with one event to go is good.”

Trump faces John Higgins for a place in the German Masters semi-final.
