Tottenham v Aston Villa: Premier League – live
So Eric Dier is left on the bench for Spurs. It’s full-back mania in defence for the hosts. There’s an entirely new midfield from the one that started against Wolves too, with starts for Gil, Lo Celso and Bentancur.
Villa make one change from the side that won at Fulham earlier this month, with Diego Carlos in for Youri Tielemans. Funky.
Tottenham: Guglielmo Vicario, Emerson Royal, Pedro Porro, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Bryan Gil, Giovani Lo Celso, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Rodrigo Bentancur, Heung-Min Son
Subs: Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Eric Dier, Alfie Dorrington, Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Alejo Véliz, Jamie Donley
Aston Villa: Emiliano Martínez, Diego Carlos, Ezri Konsa, Lucas Digne, Pau Torres, Matty Cash, Douglas Luiz, John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara, Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby
Subs: Robin Olsen, Álex Moreno, Clément Lenglet, Youri Tielemans, Leon Bailey, Leander Dendoncker, Jacob Ramsey, Tim Iroegbunam, Jhon Durán

We begin today’s coverage with sad news. Terry Venables, who played for and managed Tottenham, has died at the age of 80. He won the FA Cup twice with the club, taking to the field in 1967 against Chelsea and running the show from the touchline against Nottingham Forest in 1991.
Today’s fixture was billed as a thriller between fourth and fifth; now it becomes a poignant affair. Black armbands will be worn and a minute’s applause will precede kick-off to remember a significant figure in the English game – after managing Spurs, Venables went on to take the England job, helming that famous run to the semis at Euro 96. He also won two caps as a player.
I’ll be here to take you through coverage of today – feel free to drop me a line with your thoughts, queries and tributes.
