I was quoted £650 for my driveway & patio to be cleaned but found a product that left them looking brand new for £18

A FAN of the cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch has shared how to tackle a dirty patio without forking out a fortune.

Getting your patio and driveway cleaned by professionals can oftentimes be a shock to your bank account - and someone who knows a little about this is Kay Sayers.

The cleaning enthusiast, from Norfolk, the UK, was quoted an astronomical sum after realising her property was in a need of a spruce-up.

But rather than spending several hundred, Kay - a fan of Mrs Hinch, also known as Mrs Hincliffe - decided to see if there was a more budget-friendly alternative to get the patio looking like brand new.

Taking to Facebook, she wondered if any of the fellow Mrs Hinch's super fans knew of any cost-effective remedies and products.

''Just had a quote to clean my block paved driveway and small amount of path slabs for £650,'' she revealed in the post.

''What is the most effective thing to use on paths and driveways that gets rid of the black mould, please?''

Luckily for the cleaning enthusiast, the post was soon inundated with a number of responses from social media users who raced to share their top tips.

Gobsmacked by the hefty sum - which they described as ''daylight robbery'' - dozens suggested alternatives, which ranged from using a pressure washers and different store-bought products.

However, the most popular response appeared to be using a buy from B&Q - Wet & Forget.

One member of the group said: ''Wet and Forget. Marvellous.

''Garden Centres and Amazon stock it. And maintain with a pressure washer.''

Someone else chimed in: ''Wet and Forget; don't expect instant results, though.''

''Definitely Wet & Forget. Spray on,no scrubbing, and leave,'' a third penned.

''Continues to work for approx 6 months. Gets rid of algae,mould, lichen etc.''

''Daylight robbery! Lol. Buy WET & FORGET!'' another person praised the product, which sells for £18.99.

The massive 2l bottle contains a special formula that will tackle ''contaminants with no water blasting or scrubbing required – simply apply to the surface and forget about it'', the brand wrote in the description online.

Not only does the product boats ''an unlimited shelf life'', but it's also ''free from aggressive chemicals such as bleach and ammonia that can damage surfaces''.

As you don't require any special equipment for application, this means the simple approach is suitable for anyone to use. 

'' It can be used on ANY outdoor surface such as, roofs, bricks, natural stone, pavers, headstones, patios, driveways, paintwork glass houses, solar panels, tarmac, artificial grass and more.''

There were also a few recommendations of applying bleach - however, whilst this may be a cheaper option for Brits looking to slash the costs, it's also worth noting that this solution poses several risks.

Not only can using bleach outdoors ruin the environment and have a negative impact on the surrounding eco-system, the solution is also not recommended for people with kids and pets.

Mrs Hinch, 33, has long been a favourite in the cleaning community, with a whopping 5million followers on her Instagram profile alone.

The cleaning sensation rose to fame a few years ago with savvy home hacks and her fans have since even started dedicated cleaning pages to share their tips, as well as seek advice from others.
