Simon Cowell drives car he owned when he was broke in the 80s to BGT auditions in London – after buying it back 40yrs on
SIMON Cowell drove an old car he owned when he was broke in the 80s to the Britain's Got Talent auditions.
The former music mogul showed up on the red carpet before filming in London in the vehicle after buying it back 40 years on.
Simon, 64, made sure to start the seventeenth series of Britain's Got Talent in true style.
According to a previous report in The Times, Simon began his driving career with a modest Renault 5 and then a "battered" Renault 4 car.
He then moved onto a stint in the Triumph TR6 once he started to earn money.
In 2002 he declared: "10 years ago I was broke."

He also previously admitted to other publications: "By the time I was 28, I was broke.
"I had to go back and live with my parents. I was nearly bankrupt, actually."
He found success in the music industry followed by his role as a judge on the noughties TV singing show Pop Idol, which cemented his mainstream status.
The money soon came rolling in and he bought his first sports car, a Porsche 911SC.
He admitted: "That was an amazing car and obviously, as my first Porsche, it meant a lot."
But it seems he still has fond memories of the Triumph TR6 model as he showed up on the red carpet outside the London Palladium in the soft top vehicle.
He first owned the convertible back in the 80's, but he made it known the car was firmly back in his possession.
The cold weather meant the black roof stayed firmly fixed, but the TV personality was all smiles as he made his bold entrance.
He was surrounded by screaming fans as he drove the red car - with visible black leather seats - right into view of the awaiting cameras.
Simon parked his sentimental motor in the middle of the red carpet before he posed with fellow Britain's Got Talent Judges, Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.
