BBC Radio 1 Big Weekender viewers slam US star for ‘miming’ as they ‘paid to see her sing, not lip-sync’
SABRINA Carpenter fans have hit out at BBC Radio One Big Weekend following the American star's performance.
The Espresso hitmaker, 25, was one of the top acts to appear at the annual event in Luton, arriving on stage in a bright orange dress to perform her tracks.
Fans were delighted to see the star, but things soon went awry and they soon complained they weren't able to hear the star sing.
With the backing track turned up to 11, fans flocked online to complain Sabrina was drowned out while she performed her hits including Espresso and Nonsense.
Others believed she was deliberately lip-syncing her way through her set, causing frustration after they forked out money to see her.
On Instagram, one viewer wrote: "The fact that the new tik tok singers generation is lip syncing in a gig that people spend money to go see and hear them SING is just sad."

"I don't get it, she has the voice to do these without such a loud support track?" said a second.
"Sorry but you pay to see people SING not MIME," noted a third.
Taking to the comments of the YouTube clip after it was uploaded, the devoted fanbase quickly shared their frustration at missing out on hearing her sing.
Others agreed that Sabrina was lip-syncing despite fans paying out in order to see her.
"Every video I’ve seen of Sabrina Carpenter at Radio 1 it looks and sounds like she’s miming?" wrote one. "Unless the backing track is just really loud. Be a bit disappointed if you went especially to see her and could’ve just opened Spotify instead."
Another said: "I love her and she’s such an incredible singer, i wish the backing track was quieter! girly pop doesn’t need it."
"I kinda wish they turned around the backing and or turned up her mic," said another. "It's hard to hear her over the backing and i know its not intentional bc it wasn't like that in her snl performance for example."
While viewers at home certainly weren't happy, those at the festival seemed to be having a blast, with Sabrina even making a cheeky double entendre aimed at the BBC.
Traditionally, the star changes the outro to Nonsense with each performance, and on this occasion, she took aim at those who told her to keep things family friendly.
So she sang to the audience: "BBC said I should keep it PG / BBC I wish I had it in me."
Making a gesture with her hand, she added: "There’s a double meaning if you dig deep."
She later joined Coldplay live on stage during their set, performing their song Magic alongside Chris Martin.
