Me and my partner saved £39K in two years by living in a motor home – it helped us buy our dream house and a dog

SAVING money to buy a house can be a daunting prospect for many people, but one couple revealed how they managed to do it by moving into a motor home full-time.

Adventurous couple Koa and Maddie Pancho managed to save £39,000 in two years and say it was one of the best decisions they made.

On his @koajpancho, Koa explained: “So I was able to save $50,000 (£39,000) in two years by living in an RV.

“When I bought this RV, I put in about $3,000 (£2,300) and my girlfriend at the time - now my wife - put in about the same.

“It was basically all the money we had.

“We bought this RV for $6,000 (£4,700) and then after that we were completely broke.

More on tiny homes

“After we bought the RV we both got full-time jobs just trying to save as much money as we could.

“While we were doing this and living in the RV we also just tried to keep our expenses as low as we possibly could to save the most money.”

Thanks to their very frugal living, the two years in the motor home helped to save £39,000, which was enough to buy a home and a dog.

Koa added: “After we bought our first house we went back and tried to sell this RV which we had bought for $6,000 (£4,700) and we ended up selling it for $8,000 (£6,300).

“So we actually made a profit and saved over $50,000 (£39,000) in the process.”

Koa and Maddie jokingly shared all of the things they “regretted” about their years in the RV.

Koa said: “It kept our bills below $150 (£119) every single month.

“It was spacious and our first place to ‘call home’.

“It was definitely simple but we had everything they needed.

“We were able to buy our first house at 22 years old.

“RV living helped me save up enough money for a ring.”
