The next Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS countries will be held in Dushanbe

The 18th Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS member states will be held on May 14-15 in Dushanbe. Its main theme will be "The Commonwealth of Independent States: New Horizons of Humanitarian Cooperation", as reported on the website of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states. The panel discussion will be devoted to the contribution of the peoples of the Commonwealth to the Great Victory. The discussion platforms will discuss such topics as "Traditions and Innovations in the Culture of the Commonwealth Countries", "Modern Trends in Science and Education" and "Possibilities of the Media for the Development of the Humanitarian Space of the Commonwealth".

A meeting of the heads of the National Academies of Sciences, as well as a joint meeting of the Board of the IFHC and the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS are planned on the sidelines of the Forum. The forum program also includes the award ceremony of the "Stars of the Commonwealth" and "Commonwealth of Debuts" awards and a performance by the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia is the main humanitarian event of the year in the Commonwealth, where the results of humanitarian cooperation over the past year are summed up in a multilateral format, plans for joint events are discussed, and new approaches are developed to the most pressing issues of interaction between the CIS countries. The forums have been held annually since 2006, usually in the capitals of the countries chairing the CIS.

Turkmenistan has twice hosted representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia of the Commonwealth. In October 2012, Ashgabat hosted the VII Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS Member States with the main theme "Strategy for the Development of Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States: Directions and Prospects". Within the framework of the Forum, a meeting of representatives of women's organizations of the CIS member states was held. In May 2019, Ashgabat hosted the XIV Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS Member States, the participants of which focused on the theme "Common Humanitarian Space of the Commonwealth: Dialogue in Culture, Science, and Education". An exhibition dedicated to the Year of the Book in the CIS was prepared for the participants and guests of the forum.

It presented the best publications of recent years, as well as Russian classical and modern literature donated to the National Library of Turkmenistan as part of the "Books as a Gift" campaign, which is held by the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States. All the countries participating in the Forum joined the organizers of the event. The delegates brought their book gifts to the National Library of Turkmenistan.
