Everyone can see the reef – but you have a high IQ if you can spot the hidden eel in 10 seconds
DIVING deep into one under-the-sea brainteaser will reveal a ray-finned aquatic animal - and your IQ.
Test your skills by trying to spot the eel in the easily visible reef and see if you hit the high-achieving mark.
"Do you see the eel hiding here?" asked Laura Rogers (@laurarojahs).
The clock was ticking as those up for the optical illusion challenge only had ten seconds to find the fish.
At first glance, various shades of green in the form of sponges and sea urchins appeared.
Put your eyes to the test as you continue to scan the reef in the deep blue ocean.
Somewhere inside hides the eel that is able to easily camouflage into its surroundings.
A close-up image of the reef showed even more green creatures and rocks that have mostly likely been deep down in the sea for many years.
Don't give up just yet as things become clearer closer to the top of the reef.
Its body might remain mostly hidden, but a green and black spotted eel could soon be seen with its mouth wide open.
The fish had indeed found a crevice among the other similarly colored reef creatures.
If you spotted the eel before time ran out you might indeed be a genius.
There is also more to eels than meets the eye.
According to PBS.org, there are about 800 species of the creature.
Eels can weigh anywhere from one ounce to hundreds of pounds.
They might not have pelvic fins, but eels do boast a continuous dorsal, anal, and caudal fin.
Studies also show that optical illusions can expand and improve overall brain health, as described in the Harvard Business Review.
