I’m an ex-Greggs worker & builders were our best and worst customers – the secret discount made it worth 12-hour shifts
A FORMER Greggs worker has lifted the lid on what it was really like selling sausage rolls at the popular bakery chain.
While many people would dream of being surrounded by steak bakes on a daily basis, the woman shared how not all of her customers made the job pleasant.
On her @marfymae she revealed the “worst” kind of Greggs shopper that she encountered.
The former staff member said: “Secrets of an ex Greggs employee.
“Customers would regularly scream at us because the pastries were cold.
“They’re cold so Greggs (and you) don’t pay pastry tax.”

Another Greggs shopper she didn’t like meeting were the “builders who called me fit at 6am.”
Marf also said she found the shifts “a killer”, and alleged that she often worked 6am to 6pm.
She also claimed how she had to train other staff members, despite being just 17 years old.
However, it wasn’t all bad.
She wrote: “I worked for Greggs for one whole year and I LOVED IT.”
Not only this, but she shared how she got 50 per cent discounts on Greggs food.
Hundreds of people liked her behind-the-scenes account, with one writing: “A fine British institution.”
Another added: “as some who worked for greggs for 3 years can confirm all this and more, used to start half 4 in morning to make sandwiches and also if you see.”
And a third commented: “Greggs was my first job when I was 16 and it doesn't sound like its changed. except we didn't get 50% on everything.”
This comes as Greggs fans have been left buzzing after the pastry maker switched up its menu - with returning favourites and new items.
The Newcastle-based chain has brought back two cinnamon drinks last seen in March 2023.
Fans can snap up the returning 124 calorie cinnamon flat white from £2.50 nationwide.
Customers would regularly scream at us because the pastries were cold.
