Morning Live viewers rage BBC should ‘scrap’ show as they brand ‘pathetic’ line-up a ‘waste of taxpayer money’

MORNING Live viewers have demanded that the BBC ‘scrap this pathetic show’ after the latest instalment aired.

Monday’s talk show episode, which Gethin Jones and Michelle Ackerley hosted, didn't go down well with fans who dubbed it ‘f*****g depressing’.

During the show, hosts Gethin and Michelle sat down with Laura Pomfret and discussed free money incentives people need to consider when switching banks.

Mark Lane was also welcomed into the studio as he kicked off the new year with the best houseplants for 2024, while

Dr Ranj’s immune-fighting ‘hearty’ chicken and chorizo stew was the star of Morning Live, but viewers were less than impressed with other aspects of the latest episode and took to X(Twitter) to share their opinions.

One user wrote: “#Morninglive garbage, waste of taxpayers licence money, scrap this pathetic show BBC.”

Another quizzed: “Is there a bigger fraud on TV? Dr Ranj? #morninglive.”

BBC fans have previously taken to the social media platform and complained about the show being ‘dreadful’.

One viewer stressed: “#morninglive is so f*****g depressing. Well off presenters telling us about the cost of living crisis. I know about it. Live it every day. If most of us wasn't piss poor, this poxy programme wouldn't have any content.”

Another added: “Dreadful show this #MorningLive on BBC.. even the show's opening music is irritating.”

A third stated: “That #MorningLive programme on BBC One seems to mainly exist to scare old people and parents with small kids. Scams, illegal food additives, cost of living, scams again, cancer, more scams, crime stats. It’s 45 minutes of doom and gloom.”

A fourth followed: “Never watch morning/daytime TV, and now I know why, “This morning, we’re going to look at whether smelling someone’s body odour can have a negative effect on your mental well-being”.

“Have we really come to this for entertainment?”

Recently, the show has dealt a significant blow to ITV's morning talk show This Morning after signing Helen Skelton and bagging a new schedule slot.

Show bosses have confirmed that Helen, 40, would become a permanent co-host alongside Gethin, 45, who has helmed the show since the beginning.

Also, starting from this week, Morning Live will be extending its running time from 45 minutes to 75 minutes.

The show will now be airing from 9.30am until 10.45am every weekday, overlapping with This Morning for 45 minutes when it starts on ITV at 10am.

The changes have already proven successful, as Morning Live won the daytime TV battle by 160,000 viewers, leaving bosses "thrilled".

Morning Live airs weekdays from 9.30am on BBC One, while This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
