Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after girl found dead in West Midlands

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 10-year-old girl was found dead at a property in the West Midlands, police have said.

Officers attended an address in Robin Close in the town of Rowley Regis at about 12.10pm on Monday and found the child with injuries. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, understood to be known to the girl, has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning, West Midlands police said.

DI Dan Jarratt said officers would be seen around the area, adding: “A young girl has tragically lost her life and our thoughts are with her loved ones and all those impacted by this terrible passing.

“We know how shocking and distressing this will be for the community and we’ll continue to have a police presence and offer our support in the area over the coming days.

“A suspect has been arrested and detectives are fully investigating the circumstances around this sad death.”

West Midlands police added they are in the early stages of the investigation and a cordon has been put in place while their inquiries continue.
