I got £141 worth of food for just £7 thanks to shopping at the right time, including 10 tubs of sausage rolls
CHRISTMAS can be an expensive time when it comes to buying all the food.
However, one shopper shared how they lucked out and managed to bag £141 worth of grub for just £7 on Christmas Eve.
The woman had headed to Morrisons on December 24 and was in the right place at the right time.
She showed off her kitchen counters covered in discounted items that came to under a tenner in total.
Included in her haul were ten boxes of sausage rolls, 30 halloumi fries, pizza, four packs of salami, a pineapple and 30 duck straws.
Nearly every item had been reduced to around 20p.
More on food
On the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, she wrote: “Thought I’d share my Christmas Eve final hour before closing bargains.
“From several of my local Morrisons in Jersey (where the unreduced prices are now particularly high as you will see) I paid £7.23 instead of £141.92.
“I have an extra freezer and really do love sausage rolls!”
Many people were amazed at her Morrisons bargains, and her post has racked up hundreds of likes.
One person wrote: “Seriously jammy. Well done you.”
Another added: “Enjoy, glad to see you are going to use it.”
We also shared how a Tesco customer filled an entire table with free food thanks to an easy hack anyone can do.
The lucky customer used food-waste app Olio that they downloaded without paying a penny and got so many items they shared them with neighbours.
Tesco has partnered with Olio to hand out free food that would otherwise go to waste.
The free food is close to its expiry date but Olio is registered with the Food Standards Agency to make sure it is still safe to eat when it's collected.
Volunteers sign up to be Olio food waste heroes, and are assigned a slot to collect surplus food from their local Tesco store.
They then bring it home and list it on the Olio app for their neighbours to collect for free.
