The 80% question was: "Which of these images rhymes with the ninth word of the chorus of 'Jingle bells'.

The contestants were then shown a kite, a red bow and a cockerel.

After their time was up, Lee revealed that 18 people had got it wrong, and the correct answer was 'bow' because it rhymed with 'Oh'.

He then spoke to some of the contestants who had picked the wrong picture, one of them being a man called Richard Jenkins.

Explaining his answer, Richard told Lee: "Well I was swayed by the willies so I put c**k."

Looking surprised, Lee replied: "Wow…Merry Christmas."

He then went to a woman called Shirl Essex and commented on her Christmas jumper before asking how she had got it wrong.

She replied: "I put the c**k as well."

As everyone laughed, a mortified Lee asked: "Can we start calling it a cockerel please? Call it a cockerel and keep it festive."

But Shirl wasn't done as she responded: "I didn't have a clue and I just thought 'If you're going to go out, go out on a c**k!'"

Lee commented drily: "I genuinely wanted to be a famous actor and it's come to this."

The Christmas Special ended with two plays, Hannah and Jenna, sharing the jackpot of £94,000, giving them £47,000 each.

The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
