Erik ten Hag has admitted he has “mixed” feelings over Scott McTominay’s imminent move to Napoli.
The Manchester United manager said: “It is a little bit mixed, I am very happy for him but it is mixed because I wouldn’t prefer to lose him.
“He is Man utd in everything, he was so important for Man Utd, he was here for over 22 years but unfortunately it is the rules.
“Homegrown players bring more value and that is not the right thing to do but for everyone, for all parts, it is a good deal. Scott is happy with it, and Napoli and us.”
Rooney first played alongside the Jamaican international at Manchester United before bringing him to Derby County and later to DC United.
With Morrison now available on a free transfer, Rooney is contemplating a move to bring the 31-year-old to Plymouth.
Morrison, long regarded as one of the most talented players to emerge from United’s youth system, has seen his career marred by off-the-field issues and disciplinary problems.
New Manchester United signings Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee have been included in the Netherlands squad for the upcoming September internationals.
The Netherlands will face Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 8, followed by Germany three days later in the Nations League.
With Mount side-lined due to injury, Ten Hag will be hoping that new midfield signing Manuel Ugarte hits the ground running.
The Uruguayan international was discreetly whisked away from a high-end restaurant last night, with super agent Jorge Mendes using his team as a decoy to ensure Ugarte, who only joined Paris-Saint Germain last year, was able to successfully escape from the paparazzi.
Ugarte will sign a five-year deal with United and Paris-Saint Germain will be entitled to a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The Red Devils are set to pay £42.2m up-front, plus £8.5m in add-ons depending on performance.
It was confirmed that he successfully completed his medical at Carrington on Thursday.
However, his debut campaign did not go well as he only featured 14 times in the Premier League as he dealt with multiple injury issues.
Mount is now set to miss a number of weeks for Erik ten Hag due to his hamstring injury he picked up against Brighton.
He said in a statement: “During the last game I picked up a minor muscle issue.
“I’ve had it checked and it looks like I’ll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.
“I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too.
“I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.”
Another option for offloading Sancho could be a swap deal involving fellow England international Raheem Sterling.
Man United are believed to be in talks with a move for Sterling that would see him link up with former England team-mates Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount.
The former Man City and Liverpool star has previously admitted that was a Red Devils fan when he was growing up.
Jadon Sancho’s potential move to Juventus is reportedly off.
The winger has been linked with both the Italian giants and Chelsea this week.
Sancho is said to prefer a move to the Blues, but any deal may hinge on Chelsea's ability to offload the out-of-favour Raheem Sterling, who could be headed to Arsenal.
