EastEnders fans scoff ‘the writers must be doing it on purpose!’ as they spot baffling Jack Branning pattern
EASTENDERS fans have scoffed 'the writers must be doing it on purpose!' as they spot a baffling Jack Branning pattern.
The character has had quite a turbulent few months, with his marriage to Denise Fox in crisis and being asked to withhold information from his police colleagues by Stacey Slater.
Jack has also had to deal with daughter Amy self-harming, elder daughter Penny arriving back in the Square and the consequences of his one-night stand with Stacey.
But throughout it all, some eagle-eyed EastEnders viewers have noticed that Jack's main way of coping seems to be through his stomach.
And despite having a super-fit physique, it seems the cop and his family like to indulge in takeaways on a regular basis.
For example, the night he hooked up with Stacey, he'd ordered a pizza, while in a recent episode, he wanted Denise to get to know Penny, so arranged a meal at Beale's Eels.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one wrote: "The Brannings in a nutshell; Fallen out with the kids? Let's get a takeaway. Had an argument with a spouse? Let's get a takeaway.
"Just sh***ed the neighbour/my grandaughter's gran? Let's get a takeaway. It's Jack's answer to everything. Must be a writer's in-joke?"
Another added: "Nah the writers are doing it on purpose now! The Branning kids are having ANOTHER takeaway."
A third tweeted a gif of Spongebob Squarepants rolling out a massive bill and captioned it: "the fox branning family’s takeaway delivery tally every year."
Meanwhile a fourth joked: "Crisis stations in the Branning household as Jack pushes the takeaway button."
A fellow viewer asked: "Does Jack ever cook dinner or is it a takeaway every night?"
EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
