Teletubbies baby reveals what she’s named her first born – and there’s a nod to her iconic role as the Sun
IF you grew up in the nineties and noughties, you probably have happy memories of the Teletubbies.
Nearly 30 years after it first aired, one of the show’s youngest stars has paid tribute to the series after welcoming their own little one.
Whilst she might not be a household name, Jess Smith was one of the most iconic stars of the nineties – despite only being nine months old when she took on the role.
From 1997 to 2001, the young woman played the Teletubbies Sun Baby, with her giggling and smiling face delighting fans across the world.
Now, she has welcomed her own little star after giving birth to her first child in mid-January.
Despite sharing the happy news on social media, the actor didn’t revealed the gender or the name of her little one – until now.

The nineties icon has now shared that she had a little girl with the adorable moniker Poppy Rae Latham - with Rae referring to her starring role.
According to The Mirror, it’s thought that the little one was born on January 8th with the proud new mum later sharing a first Instagram photo on Jan 15th.
Showing Poppy’s tiny hand wrapped around her finger, Jess wrote a touching caption that read: “One whole week of you".
Since then the actor has been sharing snippets of her new life away from the small screen, with endless photos of the tiny tot on social media.
Whilst the family might be staying away from the spotlight nowadays, Jess did opened up about her iconic role during a BBC interview.
Surprisingly, she revealed that her starring role had happened completely by chance after the producers reached out to the hospital she was born in.
"I was being weighed at the hospital. My mum took me and it just happened to be the same time that the producer of the old series had come in and wanted the hospital to get in contact with them if they'd seen any smiley babies,” she explained.
Though Jess had been a very happy baby, there was still quite a lot of work behind the scenes to get her camera ready.
In fact, her dad had to stand behind the camera with toys to make her giggle on que.
Despite bringing joy to millions, Jess hid the fact that she’d played the classic children’s character for over a decade.
In 2015, she finally decided to take her place in the spotlight after starting university.
She told the BBC: "I used to hide it but after a lot of encouragement from my friends at university, I've gained the confidence to come out with it. I am the sun from the Teletubbies.

“Everyone says they can see the likeness between my face now and me as a baby. I still have a baby face. I haven't changed much either. I am still giggly."
We hope Jess’s little one is a happy baby, just like her mum.
