Apple TV hit drama with A-list cast’s return date revealed – and it’s just days away

SEASON four of hit Apple TV drama, based on popular spy series, will be available to stream this autumn.

Apple TV+ revealed that the next series of Slow Horses will return next month on Wednesday 4th September 2024.

The show is based on Mick Herron's series of novels centered around a group of disgraced MI5 agents who have been exiled to a place called Slough House.

Nicknamed "Slow Horses," they are led by the seemingly over-the-hill Jackson Lamb (played by Gary Oldman).

However, Jackson Lamb and his Slow Horses are time and time again required to show they are still capable of handling dangerous missions.

Season four opens with a bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House.

The fourth series is adapted from “Spook Street," which is the fourth novel in the CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning Mick Herron spy series "Slough House."

The fourth season has six episodes in total and will premiere globally this September.

The first two episodes will be available to watch, followed by one new episode weekly, every Wednesday through to 2nd October 2024.

The BAFTA Award-winning series stars Academy Award winner Gary Oldman.

Gary stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but misanthropic leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.

The returning ensemble cast also includes Academy Award-nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, BAFTA Scotland Award-winner Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan and Academy Award-nominee Jonathan Pryce.

SAG Winner Hugo Weaving, BAFTA winner Joanna Scanlan, IFTA winner Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke and James Callis join Slow Horses in season four.

Slow Horses is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith (“Veep”).

Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Jane Robertson, Julian Stevens, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Graham Yost and Will Smith serve as executive producers on the series.

Fans can catch up on the first three seasons of Slow Horses, which all hold a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, now streaming globally on Apple TV+. 

Season three saw a romantic liaison in Istanbul threaten to expose a buried MI5 secret in London.

When Jackson Lamb and his team of misfits are dragged into the fight, they find themselves caught in a conspiracy that threatens the future not just of Slough House but of MI5 itself.

The last episode saw the Slow Horses fight for their lives, and Jackson Lamb share some devastating truths with Catherine.

Since its premiere in 2022, Slow Horses has won two BAFTA Television Awards while earning nine additional nominations.

The series also landed the award for Best English-Language Drama Series at the 2022 C21 International Drama Awards.

There are eight books in Herron's Slough House series, with season 1 and season 2 of the show being based on the first two books, Slow Horses and Dead Lions.

Slow Horses season 3 continued that tread as it is based on the third book from Herron, Real Tigers.

Apple TV+ recently announced a fifth season is set to be adapted from the fifth novel, “London Rules."
