I’m a glass expert – you can get rid of window condensation and mould with a pretty flower
WITH the days getting colder we have to deal with condensation forming on our windows once again.
But, one glass expert has revealed the best ways to prevent your windows from fogging up.
Condensation can cause mould in your home and then its spores can get into your lungs and cause infection.
It is completely normal that condensation forms on your windows, as warm air forms overnight inside the home.
John Cutts, a glass expert from MeandMyGlass.co.uk has shared his top five ways you can reduce the amount of condensation on your windows with Mirror Online.
Getting rid of condensation in your home follows the same principles as getting rid of a foggy windscreen in your car.

Firstly, you should get rid of the condensation that forms on your glass in the morning by using a towel or a squeegee.
But, it is also important to begin prevention techniques, to stop condensation from forming in the future.
Cutts recommends putting house plants in your home as they reduce the amount of moisture in the air, particularly spider plants and peace lilies are good to have near the windowsill.
Secondly, Cutts suggests using a dehumidifier which draws water out of the air and stores it in a tank to be disposed of later.
"Mould develops when there is excess moisture in the air which is why investing in a dehumidifier can help eliminate the problem.
"Having them placed on a windowsill can effectively absorb the moisture and prevent the spread from escalating," he said.
Opening your windows will also allow the humid air inside to be swapped for the drier air outside,
But doing that is dependent on the weather outside and whether you mind losing some of your home's warmth.
Turning your home's heating on in the morning can also help dry out the air.
"Open the windows first to get a healthy airflow going, then put the heating on to stop the windows from steaming up.
"If the condensation has resulted in serious mould growth on walls and ceilings, you may need to call in professionals as it could be due to external issues in the building making it worse," Cutts said.
Finally, if blinds or curtains are touching the glass, it will block the airflow to the glass and condensation will build up overnight.
