We test 3 SPFs that leave no stains – one option won’t leave you feeling greasy or sticky

IT is annoying when you get home from holiday and realise all your whites have highlighter-yellow stains from your suncream.

I have tested new launches and old favourites to find the SPFs that leave no trace.

Nivea's sensitive-skin SPF is a great budget, stain-free option

NIVEA SUN Sensitive Immediate Protect Sun Cream Spray SPF50+, £9.90 for 200ml, boots.com: Through testing SPFs for this column, I have noticed that those targeted towards children or people with sensitive skin tend to stain less than others, which is down to the filters used.

But this does mean they are also thicker, take longer to rub in and can leave a white residue.

It is a thicker spray than the others, which means the nozzle can clog and then needs wiping.

Thankfully, because it doesn’t stain, this is a minor inconvenience. A great budget, stain-free option.

Garnier Ambre Solaire Invisible Protect Spray SPF50 Transparent Sun Cream Spray, £14 for 200ml, lookfantastic.com: Caudalie knows how to do sun protection really well.

I have yet to try one from the brand I don’t like, and this lived up to my expectations.

I found the invisible spray quite hard to use at first as you cannot tell where you are putting it.

But it is great for topping up throughout the day and you don’t have to worry about any white cast or smears if you fail to rub it in fully.

The formula contains aloe vera, which is great for helping soothe any red patches if you overdo it in the sun, and it is water-resistant so you can swim without worrying you have washed it off.

Caudalie Vinosun High Protection Spray SPF50, £30 for 150ml, lookfantastic.com: If you did not know skincare brand Caudalie did suncare, I can forgive you.

Bethenny Frankel raves about 'most incredible' SPF foundation - it's only $13 & she says it's as good as Armani & Dior

It is better known for heavy-hitting skincare formulas.

This clever spray contains antioxidants and vitamin E alongside the UV-filters, to hydrate and brighten your skin.

This takes longer to apply than an aerosol, roll-on or straight from the bottle, but it did not feel greasy or sticky, and it has a gorgeous warm, floral scent.

This is my favourite out of the three.

IF you are a fan of Sol de Janerio’s body mists, I have great news. A new scent hit shelves this week.

Cheirosa 76, costing £24, is much more grown-up than its super-sweet predecessors, with fresh blackcurrant, pear nectar and jasmine alongside the signature vanilla note that runs through the whole range.

It is instantly warming, like the feeling of sun on your skin, and perfect for balmy nights. See asos.com.
